Lane Freeman is a seasoned educator and educational consultant with a career spanning over two decades in both K-12 and higher education. Starting as a Computer Applications teacher and CTE Department Chair at Tarboro High School, Lane honed his skills in computer-based instruction and student engagement. His commitment to excellence led him to achieve National Boards for Professional Teacher Standards Certification and pioneer the use of Moodle, transforming traditional curriculums into interactive online courses.
In 2013, Lane transitioned to Nash Community College, where he took the helm as the Department Chair of Nash Online. Under his leadership, the department expanded from one to 38 fully online programs. Lane's focus on professional development ensured that instructors were well-prepared to maintain quality and best practices in online education.
Beyond institutional roles, Lane has contributed as a writer and staff developer for AVID for Higher Education, designing and delivering online training programs nationwide. Recognizing the need for flexible professional development for full-time faculty, Lane pursued a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, concentrating on Higher Education. His dissertation focused on asynchronous training for online adjunct faculty using high-engagement strategies.
Lane currently serves as the North Carolina Community College System's Director of Online Learning. In this role, he was the lead author in the adoption of the HyFlex delivery method, providing students with unprecedented flexibility in choosing when and where to attend class.
Lane's multifaceted experience makes him a trusted voice in educational consulting, particularly in leveraging artificial intelligence and technology to enhance instructional effectiveness and student engagement.
